Owning a horse is a wonderful, beautiful, and joyous thing. However, the tough reality of having a horse for its whole life is eventually you'll have to say goodbye. This was a goodbye session for Becca and her beloved gelding, Marley.

Marley was Becca's first horse. He was a chestnut Thoroughbred who lived a long and happy life, which got even happier when he met Becca and became her pride and joy. Becca shared with me how Marley helped her get through some difficult times in her life by always cheerfully greeting her in the barn and providing her with a sanctuary.


Even though goodbye sessions are often emotional, I'm so glad Becca got to play around with Marley and share another happy day with him. Nothing fixes the hole in your heart when you lose your first horse, but I hope Becca and her family remember all the wonderful times they had with Marley when they look at these photos.
